The Key and the Crest: the Unlikely Adventures of Frances Westerly – When I first agreed to read Neil Larkins' manuscript, "The Key and the Crest: the Unlikely Adventures of Frances Westerly", I imagined the possibility that I might come to regret the decision. Little did I know that I was catching a sneak peek at what very well may become a classic fantasy series on a par with writers such as Terry Brooks (author of "Shannara" and "Magic Landover Kingdom" series). While reading it again (this time the published version) I realized Neil's book has staying power, for I enjoyed it even more the second time around. I also realized what it was that endeared me to this "Unlikely Adventure": Neil Larkins not only knows how to weave an excellent tale of grand dreams, destiny and amazing adventure rides he knows how create characters that make a story come alive ... for I felt Frances' pain and turmoil, doubts, fears and defiance, as well as her joy and exhilaration as I moved through the adventure with her. I look forward to the next in the Frances Westerly series!
