Hell, Hades, or Gehenna
Is there a real hell made to torment sinners forever and ever in an eternally burning fire and brimstone? Did Jesus actually teach the existence of hell? Is God really the monster who apparently delights in making people suffer forever and ever in a burning pit in the underworld that many religions claim? I challenge you to reconsider the so-called Biblical teachings known as hell, hades, Sheol, or Gehenna. Discover for yourself how our modern-day Christian doctrine of hell has been built upon assumption, manipulation, and misunderstanding, as well as upon the myths of Greek, Roman and Norse gods of the underworld.
Now, I do not deny the many Biblical references to hell, hades, Sheol, or Gehenna, and I know that Jesus spoke about it on more than one occasion. However, we cannot stand upon the accumulated wisdom of religious teachings just because many, if not most, Christians might have believed in the accepted doctrines of hell for generations upon generations.
